“Rakefet” – the Persian Cyclamen in Israel

Rakefet, the Persian Cyclamen (“cyclamen persicum”), is in full bloom.

Mainly in Northern and Central Israel the light pink to deep pink colored beauties cover partially entire forest floors. Locals and visitors from all over the world can admire the natural spectacle these days.

The plant has its origins in the Eastern Mediterranean – in regions such as Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan – and was introduced to Europe only in the 17th century.
